Summer Concert

13 June is the last Sunday before the choir embarks on its US Tour. The Boys and Men of the Palestrina Choir will sing a programme which includes music by Palestrina, Victoria, Peeters, Byrd, Stanford and Bruckner.

Music, Art and the Eucharist
8pm, 8 May 2010, St. Mary's Pro-Cathedral, Admission FreeAn evening of reflective music and art centered on the theme of the Eucharist with renowned art historian Dr Eileen Kane. The music featured includes works by Byrd, Palestrina and Mawby.
This evening forms part of the Dublin Archdiocese's schedule of events for the Year of Evangelisation.

St Matthew Passion
Sunday, March 21
A dazzling array of soloist, choirs and instrumentalists will present Bach’s monumental achievement often called “the cornerstone of Western Classical Music” – the Passion according to Saint Matthew. Sung in the original German – and presented in the sublime acoustics of St Mary’s Pro-Cathedral, this is a concert not to be missed. Tickets will be at a premium so make a note in your diary for what will prove to be one of Dublin’s musical highlights in 2010.

Soloists Lynda Lee (soprano), Alison Browner (alto), Jacek Wislocki (tenor), Nigel Williams (bass) and the Orchestra of St Cecilia directed by Blánaid Murphy.
This concert featuring some lesser known works but is crowned by one of Bach’s masterpieces and perhaps his best-loved cantata: BWV140 – ‘Wachet auf…’
