The Palestrina Choir
For over one hundred years, the Palestrina Choir of St Mary’s Pro-Cathedral has grown into a much loved and respected institution which continues to develop its unparalleled reputation for the singing of liturgical music.
The ministry of the Palestrina Choir in the Pro-Cathedral links the church, which serves as the Cathedral of the Catholic archdiocese of Dublin, with its sister cathedrals throughout the world. The central mission of cathedral life is, through the Liturgy, to lift the human heart in the praise and worship of God, “beauty ever ancient, ever new” (St Augustine).
The Palestrina Choir, in their consistent excellence in expressing – through sacred music – the most sublime creativity of the human spirit, continue the time-honoured tradition of cathedral music which connects those at all stages of the pilgrim journey through life with the One who inspires all creativity.
The choir sings four weekly liturgies at St. Mary's Pro-Cathedral during choir term.
